METHODOLOGY

  • Development of an agricultural data base containing the following information:

    • Users
    • Irrigated surface
    • Types of crops
    • Unit crop yield
    • Unit water consumption
    • Cost of water
    • Cost of materials and salaries
    • Cost of rent
    • Total production cost
    • Gross production
    • Net production
    • Profit margin

  • Calculation of the unit cost of water pumping, in $/m3/m.

  • Development of a two-dimensional hydrogeologic model to simulate the behavior of the aquifer under present and postulated future conditions.

  • Coupling of the hydrogeologic model with the agricultural data base, in a GIS-modeling context.
